new wife, new job, new platform

without comments

As of March 11th I’m married and as of today I’m officially working for a new employer using a new platform. The transition from Java to .Net should be interesting. I have 5 or 6 years experience with Java and 0 years experience with .Net. Specifically, the new project I will be working on is C# with several open source libraries sprinkled in. The libraries include NHibernate, CastleProject, MonoRail, nVelocity, and StringTemplate. What’s interesting is that almost all of these libraries are also ported to Java (think Hibernate, Spring (IoC container similar to Castle), Velocity and Ruby on Rails which has had an influence in several languages/platforms.

I’d be interested in hearing experiences from other people who have migrated to .Net from Java and who have used the libraries in more than one platform.
