Sun Microsystems Acquires MySQL, Worlds Most Popular Open Source Database
The hits keep on coming with technology acquisitions lately. First Oracle snatches BEA and now this. This was a bit of a shocker considering MySQL was talking about an IPO. Then bam, Sun gobbles MySQL up and everyone has to think up some new acronymns: maybe LASP or LASJ instead of LAMP? This is another stake in the ground indicating Sun’s commitment to open source.
